As I sit on the balcony of our villa at Luxury Relais Villa Magdalena, overlooking the cobalt blue waters of the Gulf of Naples, I am overcome with joy about how our spontaneous week spent on the idyllic island of Ischia has over-delivered, only enriched by the beauty of this splendid stay.

Nestled on a hillside with only three other villas on the property, it feels like we've been staying in our own little private paradise, where the gardens are gorgeous, the rooms are spacious and well-airconditioned, and the hospitality feels genuinely heartfelt.

One of the highlights of our stay has been the delicious breakfast spread offered each day on the large terrace overlooking the ocean, of fresh pastries, cheese, fruit, and strong Italian coffee. But it's not just the mornings that are special here. This large wrap-around terrace is also perfect for watching the sunset every evening.

Despite its secluded location, our villa is just a short scooter ride away from Ischia's charming corners, meaning we could easily take off to explore the island's sandy beaches and quaint towns, with the comfort of knowing there's always a lounger by the poolside to retire to, at this home away from home.
