Freelance Writer & Creative

In an industry where freelancing can often be fleeting, Pauline Morrissey has spent more than a decade building a creative career with remarkable staying power. Trusted by some of Australia’s leading lifestyle, property and design publications, her work is recognised for its balance of editorial sharpness, visual instinct and emotional insight.

After beginning her career within editorial teams, Pauline transitioned into freelance work more than ten years ago. Today, she is one of Domain’s long-standing columnists, leading multiple weekly columns across the brand’s print magazines, published nationally through The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and Australian Financial Review.

Alongside her editorial work, Pauline has shaped a multidisciplinary practice spanning copywriting, photography and creative direction for publications and brands within the travel, culture and design space. Her work has also appeared across Australian Traveller, Time Out, Tourism Tasmania, The Design Files and more.

Based in Melbourne, Pauline’s latest venture, MADE IN KIN, marks her most personal work to date.

Founder of MADE IN KIN

MADE IN KIN was founded by Pauline Morrissey in 2026 from an undeniable observation of her industry – many of Australia’s creatives of colour from diasporic communities continue to shape culture while rarely receiving the opportunities, recognition or visibility afforded to others.

As a proud first-generation Filipino immigrant, Pauline believes that this imbalance can no longer be ignored. She is not alone in that belief, with MADE IN KIN quickly evolving into a deeply engaged and rapidly expanding community united by a shared desire for meaningful change across Australia’s creative industries.

Spanning Studio, Stories and Social, MADE IN KIN is a multidisciplinary platform built to connect and champion creatives of colour across photography, writing, design, food, art and culture. Through Studio, Pauline has developed a national Creative Directory designed to present brands and publications with a richer, more representative creative landscape.

Through Stories, diasporic narratives are told with nuance by those with lived experience, while Social creates spaces for connection through events and gatherings. At its core, MADE IN KIN is as much about community as it is creativity – fostering belonging and cultural pride.
