Austria: Lakeside Serenity of St. Wolfgang

To cap off our time in Austria, we ventured to the country’s lakeside towns.

Less than an hour’s drive outside Salzburg, our first stop led us to St. Wolfgang, where the ‘Christmassy’ vibe seemingly hit its peak.

High hopes were met with a heritage train ride up a snowy mountainside with breathtaking lake views, a ferry ride circling a giant floating lantern, and a Christmas market in the town square, uniquely lit by the warm glow of candles and fire pits, setting it apart from any other we’ve experienced.

Nestled by the lake, the Landhaus zu Appesbach hotel welcomed us with breathtaking beauty.

Drifting into the magic of St. Wolfgang, the advent ferry ride revealed the town's sparkling splendour.

Chugging through a winter wonderland on the SchafbergBahn Cog Railway.

A fairytale town aglow with festive lights, floating lanterns, fire pits, and heartwarming traditions.
