For as long as I can remember, I have dreamt about visiting the home of Frida Kahlo; the pre-eminent Mexican painter who I've held very close to my heart since studying her works in high-school, to later learning more about the strong and eccentric woman she was in the years that would follow.

After a week spent along Tulum's bright-white beaches, it was time for an alternative proposition, and so we made our way to Mérida — the capital of Yucatán boasting with Mexico's cultural highlights.

With that, our next chapter would take us to the picture-perfect paradise that is Tulum, Mexico. When it came to planning this particular part of our travels, I wanted to choose an extra special location, after all, it would be where I would come to celebrate my 30th birthday.

Before arriving in New York, we had decided early on that much of our time would be spent in parks; they're a great retreat from the at times anxiety inducing streets of the city, they're free, and of course, they're beautiful.

For me, spending time in SoHo has kept me on my toes in all of the good ways. With most businesses in SoHo opening until late, there's been many backward days spent here where I've found myself accidentally having dinner in the afternoon and going shopping late in the evening.

When the city gives you a taste of summer, sometimes you just need to head out on an adventure — and what could be more nostalgic of summer days than a day at Coney Island?

Just like the changing seasons, each visit to the flower markets offer up something new. One week it's hydrangeas, the next, it's peonies. Whatever it may be, if you're a flower lover like myself, I guarantee you it will be worth the trip.

When we began planning our extended stay in New York City, I recall tossing and turning as to which neighbourhood we would choose to plant our roots. The options seemed endless and we weren't about to take the decision lightly — after all, this is the place we would be calling home for the months to come. Ultimately, our hearts lead us to West Village.

Here we spent much time eating, sipping wine, soaking up the sun and taking in the views of the rolling valley.

We wandered about, sizing up each tree before picking 'the one'. Kieran got to cut it down himself and before we knew it, it was squeezed into our car and we were on the road again on our way.

To celebrate what has been a big year for them, a Christmas party was held at one of their registered venues, the Bangarra Room on Sydney’s Harbour.
