Germany: Bavarian Beauty of Nuremberg

The gingerbread house phase of our trip officially began with our time in Nuremberg. This Bavarian city of Germany was lively yet quaint, large yet very walkable.

Here, the annual Christmas markets currently occupy the main square, streets are lined with half-timbered houses with colourful latticework, and several historic bridges crisscross the river.

A highlight was starting each morning with a coffee at the Craftsmen‘s Market, with its medieval presence in the shadow of the tower at the King‘s Gate.
